Movie #15: Mutant Hunt

Welcome to Sci-Fi 100!
100 Sci-Fi movies in 100 days!
"Mutant Hunt" is a 1987 sci-fi / horror film directed by Tim Kincaid, who also directed the film "Breeders" that I watched earlier this week. In fact, he shot Breeders & Mutant Hunt back to back using some of the same actors and same locations. The film stars Rick Gianasi, Mary Fahey and Ron Reynaldi. The story is set in the future where people and companies own cyborgs to use as workers. An evil scientist that works for a company that manufactures cyborgs adds a drug to an entire new line of cyborgs which mutates them into mad killers.
He unleashes the killer mutant cyborgs on New York City. The cyborgs run rampant throughout the city, killing people and tearing up stuff. The mad scientist has this idea that other countries will see what his new cyborgs are capable of and will order a lot of them to use as terrorists and soldiers.

Anyhoo, this female scientist that works in the cyborg lab figures out what the mad scientist has done and enlists the help of a mercenary to stop the killer cyborgs and the mad scientist.

The first thing I'll say about this film is that it stinks! One of the worst Sci-fi films ever made! The acting is lame, the sets and props are cheap, the special effects are horrible and the fight choreography is some of the worst ever put on film.  I remember renting this stinker in the 80s. This would make a good movie for a bad movie night get together with some friends.
This film looks like a group of 10-year-old boys got together with a camcorder and made a movie for $10. It's that bad. In fact, it looked like the director made up the story as he went along and it looked like the actors made up their own fights and never bothered rehearsing them.
Check out the photo of a mutant cyborg doing a "stretch armstrong" routine to grab a machete hanging on the wall. You have got to see this effect to believe how bad it truly is. Words can't do "Mutant Hunt" justice. It has to be experienced.
Watch it now! The entire film is available on youtube.
