Movie #17: Terminal Force

Welcome to Sci-Fi 100!
100 Sci-Fi movies in 100 days!
"Terminal Force" (1995) AKA "Galaxis" AKA "Starforce" was directed by hollywood special effects guru William Mesa and starred the tall and lovely Brigitte Nielsen (Sylvester Stallone's ex wife) and Richard Moll (Bull from Night Court.) The story was sort of a mix between "The Terminator" and "He-Man."

It's about a group of resistance fighters hiding out on this planet from Richard Moll's evil character and trying to hide a legendary all-powerful crystal from him. He sends his cyborgs, who resemble humans (like in the futuristic resistance scenes in "Terminator") to find the resistance hideout and steal the crystal. Well, he does get the crystal, but like the sword in "He-Man," there is a second part of the crystal that the evil guy needs that he must join together with the one he now has to gain the power. The second crystal is located on Earth. Brigitte Nielsen transports herself to Earth and finds the guy who has the crystal and tries to protect it from the evil guy.

Brigitte Nielsen is pretty hot in this film, wearing leather throughout and packing big guns with great firepower. The special effects in the film were really good for the time period. The miniature space ship footage reminded me a lot of the look of the original Battlestar Galactica series. There are even some stop-motion cyborgs used in the movie. The costumes, props, and sets on the film were well done. The acting, fight choreography, and stunts were pretty good as well. I liked the pacing of the editing too, especially in the gunfight sequences.
Overall, the film seemed like a mash-up of other films instead of an original story, but I did enjoy watching it very much and I will probably watch it again.
Check it out.
